Water hyacinth is one of the most invasive aquatic plants, causing severe damage to freshwater ecosystems, threatening aquatic life, and impacting the livelihoods of fishing communities and farmers, particularly in regions like Kuttanad, Kerala.

A proven 6-step method for creating premium quality compost
Harvest water hyacinth from water bodies and drain excess water thoroughly.
Spread collected hyacinth on tarpaulin sheets in open fields to dry under natural sunlight.
Process the dried hyacinth through a chopper to create smaller, manageable pieces.
Layer chopped pieces on tarpaulin, spray with cow dung-water mixture, add Bordeaux lime, and cover.
Allow the mixture to decompose for 40-45 days, then uncover and spread to dry evenly.
Grind into fine powder and blend with precise ratios of coconut husk and ash for optimal quality.
